What is a Mortgage Broker? 

Mortgage Brokers help you select the “right” loan which best suits your financial position and needs.  We work with a variety of  banks and  other financial institutions, and offer you access to a wide range of home loan choices. This is important as there are many choices in today’s market, and sifting through the many options to compare and select the right loan is extremely time consuming.  This is where our knowledge and expertise assists you.  We take the hassle out of the process by ‘shopping’ the home loan market for you,  saving you time and researching the options for you.   Our role is to follow your new home purchase, investment or refinance by helping you through the entire selection and approval process, completion of loan documents through to settlement, and continue to offer support throughout the life of your loan. 


But it’s not just about comparing home loans. Even before you are ready to buy a home, a Mortgage Broker can offer valuable support explaining the home buying process and answering key questions you may have including “How much can I borrow?”, “How much deposit do I need for a first home?” and “What will my repayments be?” 


What is the process of obtaining a loan? 

We will walk you through the process, providing you with a full list of paperwork required and tools to review your current budget.   • How does a Mortgage Broker get paid?

    Our services at Easy Loans are complimentary, yes free, I know…. it’s easy to be sceptical about the idea of getting something for nothing, however this is correct, we do not charge a fee for service.   You will be guided through the Loan process and provided with our recommendations, once you have decided to proceed we will process your application with your preferred lender.   We are paid on settlement of your Loan - your chosen Lender pays your Broker a commission for providing services with their bank.   Full details of all Commissions payments are disclosed as part of your Home Loan Process.

  • Can a Mortgage Broker save me money?

    This is where a Mortgage Broker’s knowledge and expertise can help you!. We are across all aspects of the home loan market.  Rather than approaching your bank directly, who are restricted with their view and products, we compare and explain all the different types of loans on offer and the policy and fees associated with them.   We are loyal to you, our customer, which means we work will all banks on our panel to find you the best fit.   Our job is to find a competitive deal that is right for your needs and prevent you from potentially choosing a more expensive or unsuitable loan by showing you what is available.  In addition to this you have our services and expertise for the life of the loan, ensuring you remain with the most suitable product, and the best available rate on offer to you throughout your loan – saving you money along the way. 

  • What is a Pre-Approval?

    We help get you “home loan ready” planning each stage of your home or investment purchase.     We initially complete a preliminary assessment and provide you some options to choose from.   Once you have made your selection, we then complete the necessary paperwork and lodge your application with your selected Lender.   This then gives you a pre-approval, meaning the lender has agreed, in principle, to lend you an amount of money towards the purchase of your home or investment property.  You are now ready to start shopping for your home, as you will know the maximum you can borrow, giving you confidence to negotiate on your home.  A pre-approval is normally valid for 90 days up to 6 months depending on the lender – this can be renewed with updated paperwork as we go along, ensuring it remains active until you find your home. 

  • I am self-employed, can you help?

    Yes we can!  We have a range of options available to you, we also have access to products if you have not yet completed your latest tax return. 

  • Can I do my application via the internet?

    Yes, we can help you here.  If you work remote, live interstate or it is just easier via online for you.     We have an online application form, tools for accessing statements etc. electronically, and we can use email for sending and receiving information.

  • What is my borrowing power?

    There are several calculators online that can estimate how much you can borrow, however these do not take into account your full financial position, such as where you wish to buy and the type of house you are looking for.   All lenders have different lending criteria. 

    At Easy Loans we will tailor this to your personal situation, helping you work out just how much you can afford to borrow based on your income, cost of living, assets and liabilities, and your comfort level!  This then gives you the tools in working through your home buying budget.

  • How does a Mortgage Broker help my loan be approved?

    Having met with you and understanding your needs and financial position, we have the expertise and variety of lenders to choose from to get your home loan application over the line with the right lender. 


    We will explain any steps you may need to take to tidy up your finances before applying for a loan, and identify any possible red flags that could work against you.  

  • What do I need to bring when I meet with a Mortgage Broker?

    It’s never too early to start planning for your first home.  If  you’re at the very beginning of your home buying journey and are not sure where to start, just bring along a list of the questions you’d like to ask and we can help you start to plan.  

    If you are a little further along and closer to buying a place of your own, it’s a good idea to gather together some documents that will give us a better idea of where you stand financially. 


    We can then review your documents, and assist you with any steps you might need to take to assist with your application approval.   


    Example of paperwork you will require: 

    • Most recent Pay slips 
    • Bank statements that provide a record of your savings history and payroll credits.
    • Personal Loan / Car Loan Statements, if applicable 
    • Credit Card/Store Account Statements, if applicable 
    • Some photographic ID such as a drivers licence or passport 
    • Monthly Budget (link to ours on website)
